We're mailing you a bookmark.
3D-printed, mailed to your door, named Lit Pussy. 🤍
I've been sitting on this for weeks. Today is Indie Bookstore Day, and it felt like the right day to finally share it.
We're launching something I'm really proud of.
The O Bookmark Collection. The first reader loyalty program in romance that rewards you for finishing stories. Not opening them or adding them to your TBR, but actually finishing them (and hopefully answering the two questions at the end: Would you recommend this? How did it make you feel?).
Every finished story earns you points. Hit a milestone, and we'll mail you a 3D-printed bookmark with a handwritten note from me. Paid reads count double.
There are three parts to it:
The Love Collection. Five bookmarks across five milestones using Fibonacci numbers, because we are, at our core, a platform about love and desire. And love follows the golden ratio of phi, which is the mathematical constant that shows up in nautilus shells, in sunflower spirals, in the proportions of the human face. Beauty isn’t random. Neither is what we feel when a story gets it right.
Read 5 free stories (or 3 on a subscription, since paid reads count double) and Lit Pussy is yours in black, pink, or red. (Your bookmark is already printed and waiting.)
The Streak Collection. A different set, earned for finishing at least one story a week. The 8-week bookmark is one of my favorites. Research on habit formation puts the median around 66 days, which is roughly when reading on Theo Reads stops being a thing you sometimes do and starts being a thing you just do.
The Moments Collection. Birthday bookmarks, reader-versaries, and seasonal limited editions that rotate every year. I love the idea of you being with us for ten years, collecting ten different birthday bookmarks, each one dated. That's our end game.
I’ll leave you with one last thought. Look, Amazon has dominated the industry for thirty years. That’s thirty years of the same basic transaction: you search, buy, read, maybe leave a star rating. But the readers who outread every other genre on that platform get no milestone recognition or acknowledgment that finishing a 400-page slow burn deserves more than a nudge to buy the sequel.
Theo Reads is one small platform that’s just getting started. But we care enough to actually build the thing.
The question is whether you’ll keep reading on a platform that floods romance with AI-written titles, squeezes real authors out of their own genre, and shadow-bans the spicy stories you actually want, or come build something different with us.
Founding readers lock in 50% off forever, and get first access to what’s coming next: audiobooks, offline reading, and a few perks we’re not ready to announce yet.
Happy Indie Bookstore Day.
With love, Parneet 🤍
